BEGEISTERUNG – Move and your brain will laugh!

The project launched by ASVÖ Salzburg aims to raise awareness of the topic of “brain health” among the population. In Salzburg alone, there are currently around 3,000 people suffering from some form of dementia. We are providing scientific support for the project.

BEGEISTERUNG – Move and your brain will laugh!

A dementia prevention initiative

About the Research

There are currently around 3,000 people living in the city of Salzburg who suffer from some form of dementia. According to current estimates, there are well over 100,000 throughout Austria – and the trend is rising. Against this backdrop, ASVÖ Salzburg has launched the “BEGEISTERUNG – Beweg Dich und Dein Gehirn lacht” initiative with numerous offers for dementia prevention. The three aims of the project are:

  • more awareness of the issue of brain health among the population
  • the dissemination of preventive measures
  • identifying ways of dealing with people affected by dementia in an inclusive way

We are providing scientific support for the project.

Methodologies

Four consecutive, participatory focus groups in which people with different backgrounds (such as dementia sufferers and relatives, representatives of health organizations, experts and members of sports associations) systematically reflect on the structure of services on the topic of dementia in the city of Salzburg and – in the sense of a joint think tank – derive innovation potential from this.

Milestones/Output

  • List of criteria for the target group-oriented design of prevention services in the area of dementia
  • Collection of innovative service ideas in the field of dementia for the city of Salzburg
