An additional focus is on modeling, simulation, and visualization of social-spatial processes.<\/p>\n<p>Andreas Koch was born in the German city of Freiburg im Breisgau. He studied Geography, Political Science, and Spatial Planning at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lmu.de\/de\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ludwig-Maximilians-University<\/a> of Munich. In 2004, he completed his habilitation at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rwth-aachen.de\/go\/id\/a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Technical University of Aachen (RWTH).<\/a> Since then, he has been teaching at various universities, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wu.ac.at\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vienna University of Economics and Business,<\/a> the Department of Geosciences at the University of Munich, at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aau.at\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Klagenfurt,<\/a> as well as the Department of Informatics at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bas.bg\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Royal Academy of Sciences<\/a> in Sofia, Bulgaria. Since 2007, he is Professor of Human Geography at the University of Salzburg.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, he is Deputy Head of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.povertyresearch.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Centre for Ethics and Poverty Research (CEPR)<\/a> as well as Deputy Chair of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geocompass.at\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Geocompass Salzburg<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prof. Dr. Andreas Koch is the leader of the working group Social Geography at the University of Salzburg.
