Geography Scholar in Residence 2012 Hungary

28.02.2012

Márton Lendvay is Geographer from Budapest, Hungary. Márton’s field of interest lies in how rural resilience can be enhanced by different forms of social capital. In his research project he investigates how the understanding of rural resilience differs in the West and in post socialist Europe. He is looking for forms of social capital that did not evolve historically in Eastern Europe, but are efficient in enhancing rural resilience in Western societies, and find existing alternatives that could be adapted to support rural resilience. The project is based on empirical research with an emphasis on international comparison.

Márton previously worked for Scientific Association for Spatial Development, Budapest and participated in transnational cooperation projects of the Danube region, Donauregionen+ and Datourway whose purpose was coordination of regional development projects in South-East European countries.
