Austria’s Youngest University Professor

In 2002, Sedmak was appointed to the Chair of Epistemology and Philosophy of Religion at the University of Salzburg as Austria’s youngest university professor. He held the Chair until 2005.

He was president of the Österreichische Gesellschaft für Philosophy (Austrian Philosophical Society) from 2002 to 2004, and has been the society’s vice president since 2004. He is a member of the scientific advisory council of the Österreichische Armutskonferenz (Austrian network against poverty and social exclusion) of the Institute of Ethics and Law in Medicine at the University of Vienna, member of Board of Trustees of the Catholic Social Academy of Austria and a member of the Board of Trustees of the commission “Iustitia et Pax” of the Austrian Bishops’ Conference.

In 2005, Sedmak founded “unicum:mensch”, an association that aims to build a bridge between the sciences and humanitarian practice, for example in the form of a charity book series.
